Our first launch in the fall is always a three day launch to welcome everyone back to the Battle Park. Friday is the research day with Saturday and Sunday being commercial days. This can fall in late October or early November depending on when the crops are harvested, but has traditionally been Halloween weekend.
During December to March, the launches are two day launches. The commercial motors are flown on Saturday and the research motors on Sunday.
The big spring three day launch that made the Battle Park famous. Traditionally, the research motors are flown on Friday and commercial motors on Saturday and Sunday. The last two years we have changed things up a little, and we will continue that this year too. Friday will be a commercial launch so BotR teams can get test flights in. Sunday is the rain date for the Battle of the Rockets contest being held on Saturday. If the contest completes on Saturday, we will fly research on Sunday. If we have to hold the BotR contest on Sunday, it will be a commercial motor launch and everyone will be welcome to fly.
Begining in 2009, we teamed up with the Federation of Galaxy Explorers (FOGE) to host the Battle of the Rockets during the April launch. This is a high school and college level rocketry challenge that pays cash prizes, and in it's initial year, drew teams from as far away as Texas and Ohio.
Last year we added another contest to the Battle of the Rockets. This is hosted by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) North East Region. It will be a contest for the AIAA North East Region Young Professionals.
